The Vales of Traderee contributed by Vince Hearns with foreword

The late Michael O Grady from Ballycar, Newmarket-on-Fergus gave me this song. Where the town of Shannon is today was formerly known as Rinanna and prior to that it was Traderee in the Barony of Bunratty encompassing the parishes of Drumgile, Tullyvaraga and Clonloughlin. I only got the two verses and the chorus from Mick and I have never heard it sung by anyone since.

The rugged rocks I do admire
